The International Conference on Systems Science in Health Care was born in 1976 and since then, every four years, it has become a great opportunity to help specialists meet and discuss on an important and actual topic for an efficient management of health care systems. After, Paris, Montréal, Munich, Lyon, Prague, Barcelona, Budapest and Geneva, the conference will be held once more and twenty years later in Lyon, listed World Heritage Site by UNESCO. |
The theme of the 9th conference is: “New Information Technologies and Governance of Health Care Systems”. |
Indeed, whatever the system, information plays a central role for its organization, its evolution and its management. Health care systems abide by this rule. |
A good handling of information and of its architecture is obviously one key factor for improving quality of care, its management and the economic regulation of numerous health care sectors set out of the market rules. |
Nowadays, innovating is more about acquiring, exploiting, transmitting and producing information rather than transforming raw material. |
This is the reason why the International Society for Systems Science in Health Care wishes to focus its 9th conference on the role played by new information technologies in the health care sector, and particularly on the impact of these technologies on health care systems governance. |
The purpose of the conference is to bring together, in a transverse approach, researchers in engineering, life sciences and social sciences with health care providers, health care system managers and information systems specialists in order to put into perspective each other’s original contributions in a highly strategic sector. |
Without doubt, this pooling of various talents and the experience sharing which will take place in Lyon next September, will efficiently contribute to an improvement of our health care systems. |
